Bean Porridge

We love this cereal! It tastes like germade (Cream of Wheat) with a little bit of crunchiness. The beans slow down your reaction to the sweetener.

Use a hand grinder to crack wheat, brown rice, and white beans into a course meal.

To make the cereal mix:

  1. Combine:
    • ½ c. cracked wheat
    • ½ c. cracked brown rice
    • ½ c. cracked white beans

To make the cereal:

  1. Heat 2 c. milk or water. (We prefer milk, but don’t overheat it—it will boil over!)
  2. Add ½ c. cereal mix and whisk well.
  3. Simmer until thick, stirring frequently.
  4. Add ¼ tsp. vanilla.
  5. Serve with sweetener, raisins, cinnamon, etc.
  6. Store the dried mix in the refrigerator because cracked grains can go rancid quickly.
