Gluten as Beef

Gluten beef works well in any steak-type recipe.

Beef stew

  1. Combine in large pot:
    • 3 c. beef-flavored gluten, cubed
    • 3 tbs. oil
    • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 tbs. dried minced onion
    • 1 bay leaf
    • 2 tsp. salt
    • 1 tsp. sugar
    • ½ tsp. pepper
    • ¼ tsp. paprika
    • 6 carrots, sliced
    • 3 large potatoes, cubed
    • a green vegetable, such as peas
    • water to cover
  2. Cover and simmer for 30 min. until vegetables are tender.

Stroganoff

  1. Cut into strips:
    • 2 c. beef-flavored gluten
  2. Brown strips in:
    • 2 tbs. oil
  3. Add:
    • 1 can (10½ oz.) cream of mushroom soup
    • 1 c. water from gluten broth
    • 1 small can mushrooms, drained
  4. Simmer.
  5. Add to taste:
    • sour cream or ranch dressing
  6. Serve over flat soup noodles.
