Advance Preparation
- In advance, measure into a baggie:
- Combine spices and tomato powder into a baggie:
- 2 packages Butter Buds (or 16 tsp. butter powder)
- ¼ c. orange breakfast drink powder
- 2 tbs. dried onion
- ¼ tsp. thyme
- 1 tsp. poultry seasoning
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. orange peel
- Place in a large baggie:
- 2 cans (10 oz.) chicken
- 2 cans (11 oz.) mandarin oranges
- the bag of rice (from a previous step)
- the bag of spices (from a previous step)
- Add a label “Requires 4 c. water.” to the large bag.
Cooking Instructions
- Combine water, chicken, rice, and spices:
- 4 c. water (For instant rice, decrease water to 2 c.)
- 2 cans (10 oz.) chicken
- 2 c. rice
- the bag of spices
- 2 packages Butter Buds (or 16 tsp. butter powder)
- ¼ c. orange breakfast drink powder
- 2 tbs. dried onion
- ¼ tsp. thyme
- 1 tsp. poultry seasoning

- 1 tsp. orange peel
- Simmer until rice is tender. Avoid stirring or rice will get mushy.
- Add mandarin oranges and mix in gently:
- 2 cans (11 oz.) mandarin oranges
