Biscuits and Hash

Advance Preparation

  1. In advance, combine:
    • 4 c. wheat flour
    • 4 c. white flour
    • ⅓ c. baking powder
    • ½ c. sugar
    • 4 tsp. salt
    • 1¼ c. instant milk
  2. Divide mix into two bags. Pack each bag with:
    • a 1-cup, individually packaged shortening stick.
  3. Add a label “Requires 1⅓ c. water.” to each bag.

Makes two batches.

Cooking Instructions

  1. Combine shortening with biscuit mix:
    • 1 c. stick of shortening
    • 1 bag of biscuit mix.
  2. Add water and stir:
    • 1⅓ c. water
  3. Form into biscuits and bake (at 400 for 10-15 in a regular oven).
  4. Serve with jam.
  5. Warm the hash.
