Chili Con Carne

Mom’s favorite—it’s spicy!

  1. Place in a large pot or crockpot:
    • 1½ lbs. beef stew meat
  2. Sprinkle over meat:
    • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
    • ½ tsp. pepper
    • ½ tsp. salt
    • 1 tsp. chili powder
  3. Mix in a bowl and pour over meat:
    • 1 onion, chopped
    • 1 tsp. beef bouillon
    • 1 can (16 oz.) tomatoes with juice (chop into smaller pieces)
    • 1 can (4 oz.) green chiles, chopped
  4. Cover and cook 1½ hours on low on the stove, or 6-7 hours on high in the crockpot.
  5. Add:
    • 3 tbs. chopped fresh cilantro
    • 1 can (15 oz.) pinto beans, drained
  6. Cook 20 min.
  7. Serve with tortillas and salsa.
